Psycho-Philosophical-Staticism

Tue Sep 25, 2007, 8:04 AM
I figured I should update this at least once a month. But what to write?
....What to write....

So yesterday (now two days ago) I woke up six thirty am (+extra emphasis), a time of which I haven’t seen since I went away to the snow a number of weeks ago. ‘Interestingly’ enough, it was colder during yesterday than it was AT the snow. I spent this day at the Royal Melbourne Show. I also spent money at the Royal Melbourne Show.

I dragged one of my friends to the Royal Melbourne Show to protect me. At the time (and present as far as I know), I am [banished] under pain of death. Actually, it’s just this chick who threatened to strangle me more times in one day than anyone else has in my entire life. The first time I met her, she interrupted a conversation I was having with someone else in order to argue some obscure point with me. We get on great!

She is a trendsetter though. Now her friend of whom I met her through is threatening to kill me too. However, proof of my mortality has been postponed, as I merely had to enjoy their company which for conversation between throttle-me-harder-chick and I digressed to a little verbal sniping as the day wore on. I am a bad person.

A not so very interesting irony that occurred was that my friend described her as been worldly as she had something to say about everything, whereas I was told off by her friend for acting like I appear to know everything. I make people think I am from another world.

Anyhoos, it was a rather interesting day for many reasons, the least important of which are things like city folk are easily pleased by exhibits on rural things, show bags are still overpriced, and I can’t handle the cold.

After letting one of our group get on to the wrong train, my friend and I proceeded to my house where after a late dinner of left-overs, we journeyed to my local EB Games store to wait in line to obtain my copy of Halo 3. Along with the many hypocritical things I said throughout that period of time (jokes revolving around hypo-criticism being one step from jokes about sarcasm), one of the things that amazed me was the number of parents who accompanied their kids to the launch, and the number of parents who obviously paid for the Legendary-Ultra-Extended-Bonus-Ultimate-You-Are-A-Loser-If-You-Don’t-Have-This edition of the game. My only redeeming hope was that people would find a way to wear the life-sized I-am-a-tosser helmets. No, I am not embittered about not having that edition of the game!

Microsoft should have a certification available for releasing different version of what is essentially the same thing. And while Steve Jobs might make fun of them for doing it with Vista, Apple do it with their hardware. Sadly, both sell incredibly over priced products.

So after trying to salvage what was left of my self-respect, we returned to my house to download an inevitable Xbox Live update, and then commenced playing the campaign (on heroic no less). It was short. We finished the game in 6 hours which INCLUDED dying a number of times, especially at the end. Sadly, Bungie have selective hearing. In Halo 2, they were criticized for having uneven graphics (some things looked great, others look like they were been drawn by an NES), and for not introducing any new radical things. They maintained their practice of mixed graphics, but they did introduce a LOT of new combat.... things. One thing that continually frustrated me was the new button mapping; in Halo 2, x would reload your weapon or pick one up. In Halo 3, it deploys one of many special-things (bubble shields, energy draining things, trip mines....). I never EVER deployed one of those things purposely, since I never had any to use. One thing that was really cool were the explosions. If Bungie spent most of their production time (3 or more years) designing those, it would still be time well spent: they were REALLY cool!

Online play was as expected, though telling it to put us into random game types resulted in us playing the same game type 5 times. But then, Microsoft think that 850*77.1=100000. If you have Office2007, try it in Excel.

In other news, my other photo gallery has clocked over 10,000 views (!) though most of these are from the few decent images of which tops out at 3347 views as I write this.
I got a ranking of 97 on the UMAT which will be useful if I decide to apply for medicine.
And 2 books I borrowed from the La Trobe Library are now overdue.

Nitpickers:
My-hands-around-your-throat-chick is far more than I wrote her to be. Actually, how bad could that situation be....

We should probably never look into our own hearts; I don't think anyone likes what they find there....

Although the heart is noble-minded the exterior surface is served like a snob.
